Recent media releases concerning poor infection control standards in Sydney dental practices.

 Dear Patients,

Following the recent media coverage of inadequate infection control practices and unlicensed dentists carrying out treatment on patients, I am writing to reassure you that Natural dentistry adheres to the highest quality infection control practices.

We follow the protocol as outlined in the current editions of :-

  • The Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4815 – Office based health care facilities – Reprocessing of reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment, an maintenance of the associated environment.
  • The Australian Dental Association – Guidelines for Infection Control.

This assures that all instruments are pressure heat sterilized in Class B vacuum autoclaves, which will kill the viruses that cause Hepatitis A, B & C and HIV. Standard cross infection protocols which includes handwashing between patients, the wearing of clean gloves and masks for all patients is strictly observed.

All practitioners in our practices are Australian or New Zealand trained and have current unrestricted registration with APHRA  (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency) to practice dentistry in Australia. This can be checked on the APHRA website –

Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns about the above matters with the dentists and staff at Natural Dentistry.

Kind regards,

Dr Ross Mackay BDS
